18-month-old girl falls off Srirampura metro escalator from 50 feet height to road, suffering severe injuries. She breathed her last at National Institute of Mental Health & Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru.
Bengaluru: An 18-month-old girl child fell off the escalator at Srirampura Metro Station on to Mahakavi Kuvempu Road from a height of 50 feet. Hasini suffered severe head injuries and was admitted to KC General Hospital. But as the hospital did not have a ventilator, she was admitted to Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health and was later shifted to National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) hospital in Bengaluru, where she breathed her last. Hasini’s grandfather was carrying her in his arms when he lost balance while travelling up the escalator and she fell through the gap between the escalator and the platform.
