Bhadra, the pup who was thrown off a building in Chennnai last year, is now in a happier place. The dog, now 1 year and 6 months old, loves to chase crows and play on the rooftop. Her new owner, Karthik Dandapani said she's become a darling of the household and has grown on his mother.
A year ago, Bhadra's story became national headlines when she was thrown off the rooftop by two MBBS students in Chennai. A video of their callous act went viral and horrified people's collective conscience. However the puppy who survived the incident is now in a happier place and is taken care of by two loving parents.

Bhadra now loves to play and chase crows, says her new owner, Karthik Dandapani. In many ways, this pup has changed his life. Dandapani was at first reluctant to take her in as his mom didn't want a dog at home. Since then, Bhadra has become quite close to the matriarch and loves her food, especially her chapatis. When she's not munching on food, she runs, goes on her walks and asks to be taken to the roof at least four or five times a day.
However, things were much different when the incident had just occurred. She suffered from a spinal injury and had multiple fractures in her front and rear legs. At the time, she was being taken care of by Blue Cross volunteer, Shravan Krishnan.
"There was a lot of media attention. Every day someone would come to take photographs of Bhadra, so my friend took the dog in his care," he told Huffpost India. Krishnan found the stray pup a few days after the incident took place.
At the time, the Humane Society offered Rs 1,00,000 to anyone who would help identify the culprits. Later, the MBBS students were identified as Gautam Sudarshan and Ashish Paul. Krishnan and his friends, Jennifer Jacob and Antony Rubin filed a police complaint under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act 1960 and sections 428 and 429 of the IPC.
Although the two students admitted to the crime, the case hasn't advanced. The culrpits are out on bail and the case is still pending in court. "Bhadra was grievously injured and we provided the court with all the necessary evidence to punish the miscreants. I am positive that in the hearing this month justice will prevail," Rubin told Indiatimes.
