A woman is reported to have attacked her husband with a sickle for checking her WhatsApp messages and call records. The incident took place at Bhilawali village in Kheragarh late on Saturday night. 21-year old Netrapal Singh was rushed to SN Medical College immediately after the attack. He was administered multiple stitches on the forehead.

Netrapal got married to 19-year old Nitu Singh in 2014. At that time, he was not aware of the affair she had with another person. But when things started turning sour between the two of them, they started living apart. The incident took place when she had come to her husband's house for a function. Speaking to the Times of India, Netrapal said, "On Saturday, I saw my wife chatting with another man on WhatsApp. When I asked her to give me the phone, she refused and told me to stay away. Later, when I forcefully took her phone to see the chat details, Nitu attacked me with a sickle from behind and I fainted."

Netrapal's father Rajeev Singh said, "Nitu was having an affair with a man from another caste and we weren't aware of that at the time of marriage. We tried to convince her to think practically and decide if she wanted to spend her life with Netrapal, but she did not listen and continued to be in touch with another man."

After the attack, Nitu attempted to flee from the village with her boyfriend. However, they were caught and thrashed by Netrapal's relatives. They were taken to the police station, where Nitu said that her husband had hit himself with the sickle to put her in trouble. Speaking to the media, station officer Ajay Singh said, "We have detained the woman and are waiting for a written complaint from victim's family."
