Following the alleged exodus of Hindus from Kairana, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is conducting a survey in Uttar Pradesh to identify areas where similar "mass migration" of Hindus have happened.

Political parties are gearing up for an early poll in this most populous state and the Sangh Parivar (VHP) is doing its bit.

The state leadership of the VHP is drawing a list of Hindu voters who are missing from past voters list. The list compiled would be submitted to the central leadership.

According to a , the state vice-president of the right wing group, Sunil Parashar said that some localities have been identified in Agra where about 1,000 Hindu families have migrated somewhere else. Parashar is of the opinion that the Hindu migration is not driven by economic reasons but by harassment by other community.

If the reason for migration was economic, similar exodus would have been visible among Muslims, but that has not happened, says Parashar.

The study will wrap up in a week’s time but it might be extended if the leadership feels.

Samajwadi party has criticised this move by the right wing group.

The reports of Hindus relocating from Kairana has already generated heated debate and mudslinging among political parties in the state. The controversy was stirred up when BJP MP Hukum Singh had recently alleged that about 250 Hindu families in west Uttar Pradesh’s Kairana town had to flee because of the threat of “jihadi elements”.
