The Amravati Rural Police nabbed Ayan after receiving a tip that led investigators to his operations in Amravati's Paratwada region. A complaint has been filed against him under Section 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, relevant portions of the POCSO Act, and the IT Act of 2000.

He has been placed into police custody until April 21, 2026. Authorities have confiscated his phone and found many questionable recordings, and forensic specialists are seeking to recover more erased material.

According to police investigations, Ayan befriended several females, earned their trust, and enticed them into romantic engagements. He is accused of sexually abusing victims and filming films without their permission, which were then used for intimidation and blackmail. While initial reports circulating locally claimed a far bigger number of casualties, investigators have only identified eight. However, the number may rise as the investigation progresses and more individuals come forward.

What Did The Police Say?

Vishal Anand Singuri, the Amravati Rural Superintendent of Police, said that attempts are on to identify all victims featured in the recordings and ascertain how many similar clips were produced in addition to those that went viral.

Authorities are also investigating whether there is a larger structured network behind the production and distribution of these films. To help survivors and promote reporting, the police have established specific contact arrangements mediated by female officers. Officials have stated victims' names would be kept strictly secret, and exposing such identities is a serious violation.

Police Makes Second Arrest

Police have also apprehended a second culprit, Ujer Khan Iqbal Khan, who reportedly played a key part in amplifying the crime by downloading inappropriate and filthy movies from Ayan's cell phone and widely disseminating them on social media. They said that around 100 videos were shared on social media.

According to police, this behaviour substantially inflamed the issue, leading the films to spread quickly and sparking fury throughout Maharashtra. The second accused is in jail, and official arrest processes have been completed. Investigators believe his interrogation could reveal critical links, including whether others were involved in distributing or producing such content.

Call For Shutdown in Amravati

The matter has sparked widespread public outrage, notably in Paratwada and Achalpur, where rallies have been held demanding stern punishment. Following a gathering at a nearby temple, Hindu groups in the region declared a bandh (shutdown), triggering increased security measures. Police have deployed more personnel and are on high alert to avoid any unexpected developments.

The tragedy has also heightened political tensions throughout the state. Opposition parties have challenged the administration for law and order issues, while the ruling party claims that prompt action was taken shortly after the situation was discovered.

Authorities have appealed to anyone with relevant information or evidence to come forward and assist in the probe.
