A 45-year old farmers hangs himself to death and leaves a suicide note behind. He demands that he be buried only in the presence of Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis. He had a debt of Rs 60,000 and a few loans from local lenders.

A 45-year old farmer-Dhanaji Jadhav-committed suicide on Wednesday night by hanging himself from a tree near his house at Veet village in Karmala Tehsil. What is raising eyebrows is the fact that the farmer just had Rs 60,000 debt and a few loans from private lenders. But, his suicide note demanded something strange. He instructed his family members not to cremate him until Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis arrived.

The suicide note said, "I am a farmer, Dhanaji Chandrakant Jadhav. I am committing suicide today. Please take my body to the village and do not cremate me till CM Devendra Fadnavis comes here.”  Jadhav is survived by his wife and two children. As per Solarpur collector Rajendra Bhosle, it was difficult to decipher whether Jadhav took the extreme step emotionally or was incited by someone to do so. He said," the loan that he had to pay off was meagre by many standards. Moreover, the bank that gave him the loan said that they did not pressurise him to pay off the amount."

The recent farmer unrest in Maharshtra has created a huge uproar across India as farmers demand loan waivers from the government. Despite the Fadnavis government's assurances that the farmers' issues will be addressed, the protests have intensified over the past few days. In fact, the farers now demand that they have a new aggressive leader like Raj Thakeray to represent them so that the government pays attention to their woes.
