UP Elections

The first phase of voting will take place on February 10. In the first phase, elections will also be held in 9 assembly seats in the Agra district. 

In the first round of elections, 623 candidates are running. ADR has published a report on these candidates. The affidavits of 615 applicants out of 623 were examined in the report. These candidates are running in 58 different districts.

Addressing the media, Singh said, "I am a member of the BJP and will stay so for the rest of my life. No worker should challenge the party leadership's decision. The party must have done it for the better."

Akhilesh Yadav is running in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections for the first time from Karhal, which falls inside his father, Mulayam Singh Yadav's Lok Sabha seat of Mainpuri.

"The BSP head will address a public gathering in Agra while adhering to the Covid norms established by the Election Commission of India," said party MP Satish Chandra Mishra.

Votes are now being sought over the phone to reach more voters in less time.  

Interestingly, son of BJP MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi,Mayank Joshi was rumoured to join the Samajwadi Party ahead of the elections. According to reports, he was being considered for the Lucknow Cantt seat, but as it is clear now, SP has fielded Raju Gandhi from the constituency.

He posted a picture of the inside of his election chariot, which became a topic of discussion on social media.

Interestingly, around 51 per cent of people opined that Yogi Adityanath must be the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.  

Notably, Baghel had entered politics as president of the Mulayam Youth brigade and went on to win thrice as Samajwadi Party MP from the now-merged Jalesar seat, (now non existing merged in Etah).
