On Sunday, the news of the death of 55-year-old Bhubaneswar Das came to light at the workers' residence at Shashishekhar Bose Road No. 5 in Ward No. 63 of Kolkata Municipality. It was alleged that the drinking water pipe burst and caused pollution in the sewage water.

Allegedly, more than one person fell ill after drinking the water and one died. Locals complained that the problem started on March 11. Locals claim that they have been getting a bad smell in the drinking water for the last few days. Since then, several residents of the area have contracted diarrhea.
