Karnataka: Watch how thieves on prowl steal cow in SUV
Despite Karnataka coming out with a law to protect cattle, cow thieves continue to steal and smuggle cows.
A CCTV video from Chikkamagaluru shows how a gang using a high-end SUV targets stary cows and vanishes in thin air.
It appears that the incident happened at midnight when everyone went to sleep. Two smugglers first survey the cow shed before catching the cows. While one cow managed to escape, another one was held by its horns and a rope was put around its neck.
Soon a SUV came to the spot and the cow was then forced into the vehicle. To ensure the vehicle is not identified, a plastic sheet covered the number plate and within seconds after taking the cow inside the vehicle, the gang fled the scene.
The incident happened on September 20 at Chatra Ground in Mudigere taluk and a case has been registered in this connection.
Recently in Hassan over a dozen cows died after a vehicle carrying them hit an electric pole. It is said that due to vigilance and checking at various checkpoints, the accused was smuggling from village interiors and due to poor visibility he rammed into the pole.
It is said that cattle from Karnataka are being transported illegally into the neighbouring state despite the government banning its sale, slaughter, and transport.
Due to these incidents, gau rakshaks and activists also have intensified their network and raided locations with police based on inputs very often.
