Sticking to age-old tradition of spreading information by beating the drums or ringing the temple bell to make public announcements, the villagers at Basavanadurga in Koppal district of Karnataka held a march holding the fire torch midnight.

The brainchild of this idea is not a village elder, but a government-appointed executive officer Mohan of the Basavanadurga village of Gangavathi taluk.

The effort was to make the villagers aware about the seriousness around coronavirus, purpose of lockdown and importance of social distancing.
