Ex-Supreme Court judge, Justice Sujata Manohar honoured with Ginsburg Medal of Honour

Justice Manohar served as a Supreme Court judge from January 8, 1994, to August 27, 1999. Before her elevation, she also served as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.

Retired Supreme Court judge Sujata Manohar is among the eight distinguished jurists and leaders who were honoured with the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Medal of Honor.

The Ruth Bader Ginsburg Medal of Honor, established by the World Jurist Association and presented for the first time this year, recognizes inspiring women jurists who fought to defend and strengthened the rule of law and consolidated society's advances in gender equity.

Justice Ginsburg was the second woman to serve the US Supreme Court from 1993 until her death in September 2020. She spent much of her legal career working for women's rights and gender equality.

Justice Manohar served as a Supreme Court judge from January 8, 1994, to August 27, 1999. Before her elevation, she also served as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.

Other leaders who were honoured with Medals of Honour include European Central Bank chief Christine Lagarde, South African Supreme Court judge Navi Pillay, International Criminal Court Vice President Luz del Carmen IbĂ¡Ă±ez Carranza, European Court of Justice Vice President Rosario Silva de Lapuerta, Puerto Rico Supreme Court Cief Justice Maite Oronoz and National Human Rights Commission Commissioner Young Hye Kim.
