Hyderabad police tracked down Gold robbers with the help of social media and immigration officials. CCTV footages, Facebook posts were used to retrieve numbers and details of the Peruvian robbers. Five Nigerians were also involved in the heist.

The Hyderabad police is being applauded for its presence of mind and use of technology for solving a gold heist that took place on April 16. They not only used technology, but also travelled the country to get hold of the criminals who stole 3.5 Kgs of gold. The police shuffled through several CCTV footages and found the number plate of the Toyota Camry vehicle that was used by three Peruvians at the Renuka Designers Garment stores in Kukatpally.

Rushing to the Toyota centre, the police found that the car was last serviced in 2015 at a Mumbai Centre. A team went to Mumbai and questioned PS Saraf, who was registered as the owner of the vehicle. Getting details from him and the subsequent owners, the police tracked down a Bangalore-based car dealer-Rasheed. Rasheed informed them that two Nigerians Saiki Onimisi Dele alias Michael alias Benjamin and Belkins had purchased the vehicle from him on April 6. Rasheed, after informing the police, alerted Belkins who left Bengaluru immediately and tried to flee to Bangladesh, but was caught by the Indo-Bangla border in Tripura. He was then handed over to Tripura police. 

On checking his details with the immigration officials, the cops realised that Belkins, along with four other Nigerians- Olajide alias Richard, Ono alias Henry , Elijah alias Wale and Paul- had booked a room in Bangalore's Oak Wood Hotel in April and had spent Rs 20,000 per day as room rent, apart from splurging on food and drinks. The cops also caught them in possession of the Toyota Camry near UB City on June 1. 

The cell phone analysis of Richard revealed that he was in constant touch with two suspicious numbers that showed movement at the crime scene in Hyderabad. The two numbers were then tracked down to the Indo-Nepal border. Cops then rang a Peruvian number that was found in Richard's Facebook and found that it was linked to a Peruvian Miranda Romero Daniel Arturo. According to information released by the immigration officials, it was revealed that Daniel had checked into Shoba Residency hotel in Bangalore on April 4. On checking other details, cops then found the name of another Peruvian Percy Moises. Police sifted through the immigration data for Peruvians who had visited India in April and got 101 hits. 41 of them were men, of them Moises was one. Among the women, a details of Infanzon Sulca Rosa Ysabel popped out who was found to be with the accused Daniel in Facebook photos.
