Find a bug in Apple’s tech and win $200K

Find a bug in Apples tech and win

Apple Inc recently announced that it would pay a 'bug bounty' to technology experts for finding out flaws in their technologies.

Many technology companies like Google and Uber often conduct hackathons to point out vulnerabilities but Apple had stayed far from this practice till date. This will mark Apple’s first open hack to outsiders and in keeping with Apple’s well-known panache, they have announced the biggest reward thus far by any tech company.

The programme will be conducted on an invite-only basis and hackers will be paid based on the severity of the flaw they find.

The list of rewards for pointing vulnerabilities include: $25,000 for hacking Apple’s digital compartments and consumer data, $50,000 for pointing out ways to trespass into iCloud data and $2, 00,000 for finding out ways in which Apple’s firmware can be compromised.

"We want to reward the effort that it takes to hack into these categories. However, the company would appreciate if the hackers could donate their rewards to charity," said Ivan Krstic, Apple’s head of security engineering and architecture in an interview with the New York Times.
