Apple to port iMessage to Android?

A MacDailyNews report has quoted anonymous sources close to Apple Inc, who have claimed that the tech giant is planning to surprise Android users by floating its iMessage to their operating system.

If the rumours of iMessage on Android turn out to be real, then users will not only have a new messenger but will also be able to connect to iOS users via this portal.

This will not be the first time Apple has made such an announcement. Apple had made a similar statement for Apple Music. The 'Apple Music' mobile application later landed in the Google play store.

According to the Apple Inc’s data, around 2,00,000 iMessages are circulated every second. By introducing the application to Android, Apple hopes to attract a few more users.

However, there is a strong chance that Apple’s move might fail, as most Android users are already hooked on to Whatsapp Messenger, which has more features than iMessage.

The fact that Apple Inc, after being an innovator and leader for such a long time, is entering a market in which Whatsapp is already well established, is alarming though.
