Parul Yadav, who is currently recovering at her apartment in Jogeshwari in Mumbai, was mauled by a pack of four stray dogs when she was walking along with her pet dog Pluto, a Shih Tzu breed, last Monday.

A week after the attack, caught up with the actress on her recovery and thoughts about the animals. Out from hospital after surgeries for multiple dog bites, actress Parul Yadav is still in shock and gets nightmares about the incident. The force of the bites was such that she needed multiple surgeries. However, her family considers her lucky, as there were no marks on her face.

"She has over two dozens sutures on her arms and about six stitches on her head. The treating doctor, Charu Dutta from Kolilaben Hospital, has used the latest technology and ensured her hair remained post surgery. She has been advised rest for ten days and put on a high protein diet to repair the damaged tissues," said Sheetal, Parul's elder sister.

"We are animal lovers, and we do not hate these stray dogs. But we are against the system, as the animal birth control method is not up to a satisfactory level. Poor Parul, who was walking with our pet, suffered these injuries as she wanted to save Pluto from the attack. Had the authorities and system ensured proper animal birth control, these dogs would not be here," she said.

Dr Charu Dutta, Head of Of The Department, Plastic Surgery, Kokilaben Hospital, said that the actress was rushed to hospital in bad shape. She was shivering, blood vessels from right forearm were stripped bare, she had puncture marks on her calf muscles, a cut on the head and her eyebrow.

"Considering her profession and the situation, dissoluble sutures have been put. She can now go about her daily routine and even take bath or comb her hair," said Dr Dutta. Although she is recovering from her injuries, but she still gets flashes about the incident.

Parul was to begin shooting for a Kannada movie, but due to her injuries, the shoot stands cancelled. Now, she is hoping to recover fast as she is going to play the lead protagonist in the Kannada remake of Kangna Ranaut's Queen
