Bengaluru: 5-year jail term for plot to kill Hindu leaders

NIA finds 13 guilty of plotting attacks on Hindu leaders

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had announced on Thursday that the 13 accused were guilty of plotting to kill pro-Hindu leaders.

 

It has announced today that the accused will serve five years in the jail.The NIA special court, situated at the Civil Court premises in Bengaluru, has also slapped a fine of ₹7,000 in addition to the jail term.

 

Initially, 14 persons were accused of a fatal plan to be executed against various leaders in Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Telangana. Out of the 14, charge sheet was filed against 13 persons.

 

However, one of the accused in the case, Zakir, is still at large.

 

The accused have been accused of plotting to kill Hindu outfit leaders like Pratap Simha, Pramod Mutalik and Vishweshwar Bhat in 2012.

 

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) had arrested 13 persons in this regard four years ago and had filed charge sheets against them in 2013.

 

The accused are identified as Shoaib Ahmed Mirza, Abdul Hakim Jamadar, Riyaz Ahmed Byahatti, Mohammed Akram, Abdulla Bahadur, Wahid Husein, Zafar Iqbal Sholapur, Mohammed Sadiq, Meheboob Bagalkot, Ubaid-ur Rehaman, Dr Nayeem Siddique, Dr Imran Ahmed and Sayyed Tanjim.
