Naidu gets interim relief in the cash for vote scam

The High Court today stayed the re -investigation order into the scam by Telangana ACB and has now directed respondent  Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, an MLA of YSR Congress, to file a counter petition on the objections raised by Naidu's counsel today.

Upon hearing the arguments of Naidu's counsel, Justice Raja Elango has asked the Telangana ACB too to file a counter affidavit in the case.

In his petition, filed before the Court yesterday in a lunch motion, Naidu argued that the YSRC MLA  had no locus standi in the case and was no way affected by the case.

Naidu  reminded that the ACB had already filed a final charge sheet in the case and a private complaint should not have been considered at this stage.

The respondents on the other hand countered the argument stating that Court was not supposed to stall the investigation process by an agency. "This was made amply clear by Supreme Court in many cases and we brought this to the notice of the High Court," Ramakrishna Reddy's counsel told the court.

The High Court ,however, adjourned the  hearing of the case by eight weeks and has issued a stay order on the operation of the ACB court orders.

YSRC MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy had filed a private complaint in the ACB court seeking investigation into the role of Chandrababu Naidu in cash for vote scam in the light of new evidence presented by forensic laboratories that confirmed that it was Naidu' voice that was heard in a controversial taped conversation.

The ACB special court directed the ACB to re-investigate the case, and submit its report before September 29. Telanana TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy and many TDP leaders were accused in the case.

Talking to media after the High Court ruling, Alla Ramakrishna Reddy said he was thinking of challenging today's ruling in Supreme Court.
