Farmers, the victims of the lathi-charge, have boycotted the police inside the village The battalion of the Rapid Action Force, who had come to the village, decided to return without conducting a march past Even the peace meeting in Navalagund was cut short as the farmers took officers and representatives to task

Action on the police has not calmed the residents of Yamanur. Instead, their anger has risen into 'aggressive mode' and now, victims of the police assault, have boycotted the police.
“Dignitaries visiting our village better not get any police personnel with them. We dare any police official to step into the village,” the women of Yamanur have reportedly threatened.
Vinay Kulkarni, Congress' district-in-charge minister, was the first one to face the heat of the post-assault affect.
Scared of facing Yamanur residents, the minister is said to have taken a long route around to take part in a peace meeting held at Navalagund. He certainly decided not to go through Yamanur.
The minister had created a controversy by laughing off the welts caused by police lathi assaults as mere coloured lines (bannada geregalu).
Meanwhile, the residents did not entertain former minister KN Gatti from Navalagund and asked him to 'go back'.
“The government is treating farmers as terrorists. The ministers need not have a face-to-face with the residents,” several villagers said.
Perhaps,as a result, BJP leader Jagadish Shettar did not make an effort to pay a visit to Yamanur and Navalagund.
The battalion of the Rapid Action Force, who had come to the village, decided to return without conducting a march past. Even the peace meeting in Navalagund was cut short as the farmers took officers and representatives to task.

Following the protest against the Mahadayi Tribunal verdict and the lathi-charge on farmers, a mega conference of farmers will be held on August 4 at Navalagund taluk in Dharwad, said Karnataka State Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene president Chamarasa Malipatil.
