Stormy Congress camp ends on a 'positive' note

KPCC meet stormy factions against KPCC president

The Congress leadership camp concluded on Sunday at Neyyar to review the poll debacle was predictably stormy with leaders and rival factions in the party blaming each other. There were reports that some leaders even demanded that Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president VM Sudheeran should resign taking responsible for the poll defeat.

Reports also said that some leaders of the Congress-A group wanted organisational elections. But coming out of the meeting, Congress leadership denied the reports and said that no one demanded the resignation of the KPCC chief.

Responding to criticism at the meeting Sudheeran reportedly stated at the meeting that every member of the party is responsible for its defeat in Assembly elections.

"Congress will not re-examine the liquor policy and the party will move ahead united. There will be a reconstitution of the party committees from booth level to KPPC," the KPCC president said.

The meeting constituted a sub-committee headed by KPCC vice president VD Satheesan to prepare a report to rejuvenate the party and to look into various complaints.

"The discussions were very positive and the leaders put forth creative ideas to re-energise the party," Sudheeran said on the record.

KPCC spokesperson Rajmohan Unnithan stated that the media reports against the KPCC president were   'planted' by vested interests.
