Missing Keralite sends email to police denying ISIS link

  • Abdulla sends emails to Malappuram police chief and Perinthalmanna CI stating that he had not joined ISIS
  • He also called his family members and said he had no ISIS connection. 
  • Police team is probing the source of the email and phone call. 
ISIS link police gets email calls family

One of the Keralite youths who suspected to have left the country to join Islamic State (ISIS) sent an email to investigators putting the rumours over his terrorist links to rest.

In an e-mail message to District Police Chief of Malappuram, Abdulla, who left the country two years back, informed that he was undergoing religious education in Yemen and had nothing to do with the ISIS. He also rang up his parents and informed the same.  

 

In his mail, Abdulla clarified that he had no links to the ISIS and the denied reports that he had joined the terrorist organisation. His father informed that Abdulla went to Yemen for pursuing religious studies and would return home after completing the course.

Malappuram native Akhil was pursuing engineering when he converted to Islam two years back and changed his name to Abdulla. Soon after the conversion, he left the country. 

 

The police officials are probing the source of the email and phone number.

As many as 22 persons, including women and children, went missing from Kerala recently,  giving rise to reports that they might have left the country and joined the ISIS. The messages from some of the missing persons reinforced the suspicions.

 

 The shroud of secrecy over the whole transaction and mystery over the whereabouts of the missing persons remain unsolved.  Some of them informed their family members that they have reached a place where Islam is practised in its true spirit. A special investigation team of Kerala Police and National Investigation Agency is probing the case.
