Deputy Superintendent of Police MK Ganapathy’s dramatic suicide on July 7 has created an uproar in the Karnataka police department

Ganapathy's widow Pavana and their son Nehal filed separate complaints at Kushalanagar rural police station in Coorg on Sunday night.
Initially, the police refused to accept their complaints but were later forced to register the family's complaints when the public began protesting in front of the police station.
Slogans against the government and KJ George were called out, accusing them of derailing the investigation into Ganapathy's death and also attempting to protect influential politicians and IPS officers.

Coorg SP Rajendra Prasad arrived at the spot to control the mob who demanded that the complaint on Ganapathy's death be accepted.
The police refused to lodge a first information report (FIR) and agreed to submit the complaint directly to the CID.
CID SP Kumaraswamy met with Ganapathy's family and discussed the case proceedings. After an hour-long discussion with Kumaraswamy, Pavana filed a six-page complaint on her husband's suicide investigation.

Her complaint read, "We were leading a happy family life with no problems. My husband was both mentally and physically healthy. He spent quality time with his family and often discussed the departmental issues with me."
It further added, "Post 2008 communal riots in Mangaluru, my husband took strict action which had upset the vested interests of certain influential people. They tried to manipulate him and he refused to oblige. This triggered hatred amongst his colleagues and seniors in the department."
"Pranab Mohanti and AM Prasad (Ganapathy's departmental bosses) tried to bribe my husband. When KJ George became the state home minister, pressure on husband increased. He conducted departmental enquiries and also withheld his increments and promotions."
"All this made him confront the media on July 7. Everything he said in the video was true. Pranab Mohanti, AM Prasad and KJ George are the main perpetrators who led to my husband’s suicide and now they are trying to destroy all the evidence. Please take necessary action against them and give the justice my family and I deserve."
Ganapathy’s son Nehal too submitted a two-page complaint which highlighted the same points mentioned in Pavana's complaint.
