Cyclone Vardah to Impact Bengaluru

 

Don't forget your umbrella while stepping out of the house for next three days as cyclonic storm  'Vardah' is likely to hit North Tamil Nadu including Chennai and Coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh by afternoon on Monday, the Weather Department of Bengaluru Division has predicted widespread rainfall.

 

The weatherman predicted from light to moderate and widespread rainfall for next three days. "Due to this kind of weather condition, people can expect continuous drizzling and light rainfall,"  Said Sunder Metri, Director, IMD, Bengaluru.

 

The officials say that due to winter and rain, the City's maximum temperature will further plummet. On Monday, the City temperature was 27 degrees maximum and it is expected to go down further.

Apart from Bengaluru, neighbouring districts like Tumkur, Kolar and Chikkaballapur may witness heavy rainfall due to cyclone Vardah.

 

"Although the heavy rain may help other districts, but for the residents of Bengaluru, the rains could impact City traffic in evening hours due to rain. Further, the 40 Kmp wind speed per hour may bring down trees in several parts of City," said Gavaskar, Scientist, Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center.

 

Hospitals see a jump in cases of viral fever due to poor weather:

 

With cold sweeping the city from last few days, the city hospitals could witness more rush at outpatient department following unseasonal rains. "The hospitals get about 800 patients on normal days and in that fever cases alone contribute to about 150 cases and but in last two days, the number swelled to 250 and it could go up due to poor weather condition," said Khawaja Moideen, Public Relation Officer, Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital.
