CID to file report on DySP Ganapathy suicide

The CID is contemplating on filing a 'B' report of the DySP Ganapathy suicide case in Madikeri court by Saturday evening. The JMFC court has asked the CID to the file a report by September 19, and the those accused of abetting his suicide, including former Minister KJ George, may be absolved of the allegations. George is likely to gain a ministerial berth once again.

This B report will help Chief Minister Siddaramaiah take back his trusted Bengaluru City legislator, KJ George into his cabinet. Earlier, George was given the Bengaluru district in-charge portfolio from Home, after the cabinet reshuffle to accommodate Karnataka Congress president G Parameshwara as home minister.

The CID police which was investigation the suicide case in which, hours before committing suicide on July 7, DySP MK Ganapathy had called a press conference and made allegations of mental torture by higher police officers.

In the FIR, George was listed as accused number 1 and Lokayukta IGP Pronab Mohanty and ADGP (intelligence) AM Prasad were accused numbers 2 and 3.

However the FIR may not stand a chance in court as the officers who were investigating the suicide have found no concrete evidence against the accused persons.

Sources from Congress said, "On September 22, there is a possibility of Siddaramaiah flying to Delhi to appraise the high command of the positive development with regard to the DySP suicide case. And this will work in favour of KJ George,"

Earlier, when the, footage of MK Ganapathy in which the officer named two police officers and George were made public, it had given an opportunity to the opposition to launch a scathing attack on the state government and also demand the sacking of the minister from the cabinet.

Initially, George offered to resign but CM Siddaramaiah insisted that he shouldn’t. However, after protests by BJP and JDS, the CM was forced to accept George's resignation. The CID report may well be a golden opportunity for the CM to bring George back.
