Cauvery row MP resigns CM to take strong decision

 

Speaking to the media, Siddaramaiah said, “Supreme Court Bench Justices Dipak Misra and UU Lalit have directed the state to release water from tomorrow (Wednesday). So, we will hold a meeting of the Cabinet members tomorrow and take the decision in this regard.”

 

Following the Supreme Court’s order on September 12, after the Cabinet meet, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had decided to release water to Tamil Nadu.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Water Resources Minister MB Patil too said that decision would be taken after the Cabinet meeting.

However, at this time, the protests at Mandya, Mysuru, Srirangapatna and Chamarajanagar have intensified.

 

In this context, Siddaramaiah’s decision will be crucial to the state.

 

Resignations

 

Meanwhile, CS Puttaraju, JD (S) MP from Mandya has resigned from the Union Parliament, claiming he could not live up to the expectations of the people on the Cauvery issue.

 

He has sent his resignation to the chief minister through the Mandya Deputy Commissioner.

 

Eight rebel leaders from JD(S) including Cheluvarayaswamy, Zameer Ahmed, Ramesh Bandisiddegowda, Akhanda Srinivas Murthy and Balakrishna have come forward to tender their resignations as well.

 

Schools, colleges will remain closed in four taluks of Mandya.
