The skybus is going to run below the metro railway bridge. Two Malaysian companies have submitted its proposal to the government.
After comprehensive discussions on Mono Rail, Cable Car, Hanging train etc. now the state government is thinking about introducing Skybus, as a feeder system, in the city of Bengaluru.

KJ George, Bengaluru Development Minister, spoke to Kannada Prabha and said that earlier the government was thinking about implementing Mono rails in the city. Now, two Malaysian companies have come forward with their proposals on introducing Skybuses in the city. The minister said that the government is going to have a discussion with the experts before arriving at any decision.
Currently, the government is yet to decide whether to introduce Mono rails or the Skybus as feeder system for Namma Metro. The government is also thinking about a third possibility, i.e., introducing both services together, as the Namma Metro has somehow reduced traffic considerably.
George added that compared to Namma Metro, Skybus is less expensive and eco friendly as well. Sources said that the representatives of those two companies have already met the minister and have completed one round discussion. It is said that in the meeting they have discussed about requirements to introduce the services and construction expenses.
What is a Skybus?
Skybus serves as a feeder system to Metro. It is a prototype suspended railway system. The track of Skybus is suspended below the columns of the metro railway bridge. Skybus is a computerized automated machine comprising two coaches. Experts say that Skybuses are useful if considered their service, security and expenses.
Earlier it was introduced in Margao, Goa in 2004. But during the trial run one employee was killed and three injured in an accident when the coaches hit the concrete track pillars. The test track was supposed to be extended upto 10.5 km, but no progress has been made since the accident, and the system has not been adopted anywhere else in India. After this mishap the Konkan Railway announced the demolition of the line.
