Voting is underway in poll-bound Karnataka. Amid this, state Congress chief DK Shivakumar was spotted driving an auto rickshaw after casting his vote in the high stakes assembly elections today.

Shivakumar alleged that Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai's office is calling up the returning officers of various districts to find defects in the applications filed by its candidates and rectify the mistakes in those of BJP nominees contesting the May 10 Assembly election. 

The 75-year-old Leader of Opposition, who reiterated this will be his last electoral battle, said he expects 90 percent of Muslim voters to back the Congress. The ruling BJP is facing strong anti-incumbency.

According to Congress sources, Suresh has filed his papers, as a backup plan in the event of Shivakumar's nomination getting rejected. Shivakumar has won from Kanakapura segment thrice since 2008.

Both Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah have reportedly told the Congress central leadership that they would visit their constituencies only for filing their nomination and would give their entire time to campaigning in favour of other Congress candidates to ensure the party's win in most of the segments.

DK Shivakumar is fighting the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections from the Kanakapura assembly constituency and is hoping to take on the chief minister role if the grand old party comes back to power.

The state government has placed six photographs of notable people in the Assembly Hall, one of which is of Savarkar, directly behind the Speaker's chair.
