A 2018 tweet by MK Stalin, then the leader of the opposition, demanding the dismissal of the chief minister and ministers from the previous AIADMK regime, is making waves on social media after Governor RN Ravi's now-reversed decision to sack Senthil Balaji

Senthil Balaji sacked: In his second letter to Chief Minister Stalin, the Governor said that he had been advised by Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah that it would be prudent to seek the opinion of the Attorney General as well on the matter.

The removal of Senthil Balaji from the council of ministers by Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has triggered a debate on the Governor's authority. According to DMK sources, Chief Minister MK Stalin will disregard the order of the Governor. 

The Wayanad by-election preparations have begun by the Election Commission. Mock voting has already begun in the Kozhikode Collectorate as part of this. It is to be noted that ever since the disqualification of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as an MP of Wayanad, the seat has remained vacant and the EC has not declared a by-election so far.

"Nobody has been given the maximum sentence for defamation, that too on the first offence. So that should explain what's going on (in India). Interestingly, my disqualification happens after I made a speech about Mr (Gautam) Adani in Parliament," Rahul Gandhi said.

Citing the Supreme Court's judgment that he could have been reinstated as chief minister had he not resigned, Uddhav Thackeray said this implies that actions of the governor, like calling upon him for a floor test, were illegal. 

The High Court's verdict has been partially stayed until the next hearing in July.
 

The Rajya Sabha member was referring to the Supreme Court's judgement pending on a batch of pleas including one seeking disqualification of 16 Shiv Sena MLAs (of Shinde's party) who revolted against the Thackeray leadership.

The Congress said the government may "evict" Gandhi from a house but he occupies a place in the hearts and homes of crores of Indians. The party also launched a "MeraGharAapkaGhar" campaign on social media with party leaders offering their homes to Gandhi.

Many people were also gathered at the venue of the public meeting to hear him speak. Gandhi was disqualified as the MP from Wayanad last month after being convicted and sentenced in a criminal defamation case.

During his visit, he will address a public rally and hold a roadshow in Wayanad. 
 

According to officials, the action was taken in accordance with the directions from the BSNL office in Delhi.

The Election Commission has disqualified three members of Thidanad and Chittar grama panchayats under the Prohibition of Defection Act. 

KPCC president K Sudhakaran informed that party members from Wayanad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur districts will participate in the rally.

"Some people are sitting inside the country to support these people and some are doing their work sitting outside the country. These people have been continuously trying to spoil and tarnish Modi's image," he said.
