The Karnataka Cabinet expansion is set for February 6. Out of 17 leaders who quit the Congress-JDS government in July 2019 and later joined the BJP hoping for better political future, seven will not see the minister’s seat for sure.
 

For the Karnataka BJP, it was a win in 12 seats and routing the opposition Congress and JDS in the by-election to 15 Assembly segments was no doubt a happy occasion for the party in the state. But for chief minister BS Yediyurappa, this is the perfect stage to pave the way for his younger son BY Vijayendra, who could take over the reins from BSY to lead the state unit of the party in the future

With statements coming from former CM HD Kumaraswamy that his party will not attempt to destabilise Karnataka government, it has generated curiosity about the fate of the government headed by BS Yediyurappa. It is said that the BSY government will complete its term regardless of the by-poll results as the JD(S) seems to be “offering outside 'support”

In the Indian political setup caste and cash plays a major role and time and again, elections have stood as evidence to the claim. The phenomenon has not escaped the arrest of Congress leader DK Shivakumar or the recent Cabinet formation of the BJP government in Karnataka

BSY is planning to field former deputy chief minister and MLA R Ashoka against Congress strongman DK Shivakumar's brother DK Suresh in this year’s Lok Sabha elections. By this move, BSY may think he can contain Ashoka's growth once for all

Former chief minister BSY and Ashoka have had differences in the past and also recently, over the denial of ticket for Assembly polls to BSY's son BY Vijendra in Old Mysuru region which sources said was due to Ashoka.
