Former Chief Secretary V. Venu shares his personal experiences and reminds viewers about the importance of adhering to safety measures during journeys.
Even a moment's lapse in attention can lead to accidents, shared former Chief Secretary V. Venu during the Asianet News Liveathon. Reflecting on his own experience, he said, "In January 2023, our car met with an accident. Despite the car going under a lorry, all of us survived because we were wearing seat belts even in the back seat. Many people underestimate the importance of wearing seat belts in both the front and rear seats, but it is the best way to save lives."
He emphasized that the accident was caused by a brief lapse in focus, something that can happen to anyone. To avoid such situations, V. Venu advised avoiding travel when tired or drowsy and recognizing the risks of unnecessary journeys. "No matter how experienced a driver you are, negligence can strike. Avoiding unnecessary travel and refraining from driving under the influence of alcohol are critical, not just for your safety but for the safety of others on the road as well," he added.
Driving under the influence of alcohol not only endangers our own lives but also puts the lives of innocent people on the road at risk, reminded former Chief Secretary V. Venu. He stressed the need for uncompromising decisions in this regard, urging everyone to prioritize road safety above all else.
