FollowThe National Health Mission officials conducted a sting operation at Malur taluk hospital, Kolar district, and found several malpractices first hand. Based on their first hand report, two doctors and one junior pharmacist have been suspended from duty. Taluk medical officer Dr Prasanna Kumar, hospital medical officer Dr Ravi Shankar and junior pharmacist Neelamma have been suspended for malpractice and misbehaviour, reports Kannada Prabha.
The director of the National Health Mission and other team members went to the Malur taluk hospitals in the guise of patients. They found that the medical officer Dr Ravi Shankar was charging the patients. They also found that the rates of investigations were not published on board at the lab, men and women were being kept in the same ward after surgery. The staff were charging fee even from BPL card holders.
The medical store had ample stock of medicines but the junior pharmacist Neelamma used to put up ‘No stock’ board and make the patients go to private medical shops. The officials found that the taluk medical officer was responsible for such malpractices. Based on their report they suspended two doctors and one junior pharmacist.
