Police intensify search for Yeddyurappas personal assistant

Santosh, Personal assistant to BJP State president and MP BS Yeddyurappa, was issued a notice to attend to the inquiry, in connection with the kidnap attempt of Vinay, personal assistant to Opposition leader KS Eshwarappa, but he failed to show up. Santosh was issued notice to be present himself before AR Badiger, the investigating officer on Monday but he did not turn up. Hence search for him is continuing said police officials, reports Kannada Prabha. Meanwhile, it is learnt that Santosh has applied for anticipatory bail.

The Mahalakshmi Layout police station went to Santosh’s house at Nonavinakere, Tiptur taluk, Tumakuru district on Sunday to serve the notice. Santosh was not present at home at that time. His father too refused to receive the notice. Hence, the police pasted the notice to the door of the house and returned.

The kidnap attempt being a criminal offence, search for the accused was taken up on a serious note by the police. Prashanth and other accused are arrested. Based on the information provided by the arrested during interrogation, Santosh is said to be the mastermind behind the kidnap attempt, ACP A R Badiger told Kannada Prabha.

Vinay had lodged a complaint with the Mahalakshmi Layout police that on May 11, eight miscreants came in a car near ISKCON temple and tried to kidnap him. When he screamed and attracted public attention, the accused fled the scene. The police had interrogated BJP Yuva Morcha general secretary Rajendra Urs. During the interrogation, he had revealed the role of Santosh in the kidnap attempt, say sources.

Earlier, a team led by ACP A R Badiger had conducted search at Yeddyurappa's house for Santhosh. However, the move has come under severe criticism as the team did not had the warrant. Yeddyurappa has complained to city police commissioner Praveen Sood.
