Mysuru Royal family had lost Rajmatha Pramoda Devi's mother Putta Chinnammani on Friday (October 19) morning. Now, according to latest news, on the same day in the evening, another member of the family, Vishalakshi Devi breathed her last.
Vishalakshi Devi is the daughter of Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar and the sister-in-law of Pramoda Devi. She passed away at Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru at 4.15 PM on Friday, on the day of Vijayadashami.
She was suffering from illness for quite some time now. Two deaths on the festive day, has made the royal family cancel all engagements of grand Dussehra celebrations.
Vishalakshi Devi was a nature-lover and indulged herself in preserving and protecting the wildlife. She helped in raising many leopards and elephants. She played a crucial role in bringing back a number of leopards into the wildlife and taking care of them.
It is really sad that as the state government had organised the Jamboo Savari (procession of elephants), Vishalakshi Devi breathed her last, without getting a chance to have a look at the mammoths she loved a lot.
Mysuru Royal family conducts many pujas, worships, private darbar and banni festival on the occasion of Dussehra that is witnessed by people not from across the country and abroad.Â
Coincidentally, this is the first Dussehra celebration for Prince Aadyaveer Wodeyar, son of the scion of Mysuru Yaduveer and Trishika Wodeyar. Yaduveer is the adopted son of Pramoda Devi.
However, all celebrations have been cancelled and a three-day mourning is being observed following the death of two members of the family.
