Monsoon lashes in full force coastal region North Karnataka flooded

The monsoon has finally lashed in full force at coastal, Malnad and North Karnataka flooding water bodies. Bhagamandala is inundated after three days of incessant rains. Cauvery is in spate. Water has risen till the steps of Bhagandeshwara Temple. Bus services to Talacauvery was suspended.  As a precautionary measure, holiday was declared to all schools and colleges on Thursday, reports Kannada Prabha.

In Khanapur taluk, Belagavi district, a barrage got washed out due to heavy rains and three villages were completely drowned, cutting off connectivity totally. In the Maharashtra Konkan region and in the Western Ghats rains continued to pour resulting in all water bodies overflowing.  From Maharashtra Rajapur Dam water to the tune of 50,000 Cusecs is being released to Krishna River. Yaduru- Kallola bridge in Chikkodi is totally submerged. Ghataprabha and Malaprabha rivers are also in spate.

Coastal regions Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada districts and Udupi are receiving rains continuously. In Joida taluk, Uttara Kannada, rains have been lashing for three days continuously causing flood and 25 students who were stuck in the floods were rescued by boats. In the Aasu panchayat region of Joida, Pandri river is overflowing on the bridge at Castle Rock.

Kumaradhara Bridge in Kukke Subrahmanya is also completely drowned. The bathing ghats are flooded. In Uppinangady, Netravati and Kumaradhara rivers are in spate. A bridge at Padaka, in Balugodu, near Subrahmanya is completely inundated. One Mallikarjuna (31) was reported dead in Belagavi when the house in which he was sleeping collapsed in Salagrama. Another farmer Padmanabha (50) of Doddavalagamadi, Bangarapet taluk, Kolar district, was caught in storm and died. Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan districts also reported good monsoon and Tunga, Bhadra and Hemavathi rivers are flowing to the brim. Mysore and Mandya have received moderate rains.
