Karnataka Assembly not only discussing cows but chicken and sheep too

The Karnataka Assembly on Tuesday raised questions regarding various Animal Bhagyas. Starting with the cow bhagya, the chicken and sheep were also brought into the discussion. The banks in the state are alleged of refusing loans to beneficiaries under the cow scheme (Pashu Bhagya). The Opposition made a hue and cry about the issue in the Assembly.

Somanna Bevinamarada of BJP listed out the failures of this cow scheme. He questioned the attitude of the bank staff who refused a loan to people who want to buy cows under the scheme. Why are the officers concerned silent on this, he questioned. The banks are giving subsidy price and refusing them loans, he added. The government had promised something and is not delivering even half of it, he said.

The Animal Husbandry Department Minister A Manju reacted to this and told that all information in this regard would be collected and if banks are found to be not doing their duties, action will be taken against them, he said.

But not ready to give up on the cow, Somanna stood up again and accused the government of giving details of the chicken scheme when they are asked about the cows. This shows how seriously the government and the officials have taken the need to implement the schemes announced by the government.

Meanwhile, Minister A Manju also said that it is not government’s fault that compensation has not been given to the people who have lost their sheep. The Opposition started discussing the government not releasing the compensation amount for those who have lost their sheep in natural calamities.

Reacting to this, Manju said the government cannot release any money until they get the postmortem report of the sheep that it did not die of poisoning or anything else, but die to natural calamity.

But the fact that people (those who have lost their sheep) are waiting for the compensation amount for a one-and-a-half year now. Does it take that long to get the postmortem report?
