After receiving appreciation from far and wide for her whistle blowing act that exposed alleged corruption in the Parappana Agrahara Central prisons in Bengaluru, IPS officer D Roopa has now inspired a movie on her. Yes, you read it right.

Popular film-maker AMR Ramesh, known for bringing real-life stories onto the silver screen, is readying the script on the daring IPS officer.  The director has reportedly met the police officer to know her account of her fight against corruption.

Roopa during her stint as DIG (prisons) had brought to light the alleged VIP treatment extended to jailed AIADMK-leader Sasikala Natarajan, defying the jail norms. In her report to then DG (prisons) HN Satyanarayana Rao, she had alleged that Sasikala had allegedly bribed the prison officials to get the VIP treatment. She had also mentioned about the special kitchen allegedly being provided exclusively to Sasikala. Not to forget, her report had also detailed about the rampant drug usage in the prisons. While Roopa was shunted out of the prisons - merely for doing her duty -  the government appointed a retired bureaucrat to look into the allegations.

It is reported that this expose made by Roopa reportedly inspired Ramesh to make a movie on her. "The film will focus on the officer taking on the corrupt system and deliberating on how she built her career," reports The Hindu quoting Ramesh. The movie will be bi-lingual and may see either Anushka Shetty or Nayantara essaying the role of the tough cop.

Ramesh has already met officer Roopa at least twice to get clarify doubts if any. "It was her report exposing bribe allegedly paid by Sasikala to get special privileges, including a special kitchen inside the jail complex, and the thriving drug supply in jail," is what inspired Ramesh, reports The Hindu.

Roopa in her Facebook post said "Thanks for kind words AMR Ramesh avare... That you found an interesting story in my whistleblowing act makes me happy and humbled. Good Luck."
