Five reasons why Yeddyurappas CM candidature in danger BSY Karnataka news BJP Congress

Many leaders in BJP were not happy when state president of BJP unit BS Yeddyurappa was declared as the Chief Ministerial candidate in Karnataka. Here are five reasons why Yeddyurappa is not Karnataka's favourite this time.

1) First CM to be jailed

BS Yeddyurappa was sent to jail in October 2011. Thus he became the first Chief Minister in the post to be sent to the jail. He was imprisoned for 25 days in the identification of lands case. This affected his popularity in the party and among people.

2) His fight with Eshwarappa

The BJP supporters themselves are divided between the two party leaders Yeddyurappa and Eshwarappa. Both leaders are trying to prove their importance over the other. In this process, both the leaders have been warned by the BJP high command. It is not a good sign that party's CM candidate has to be warned by the high command.

3) His stand on Hindi imposition

As it is said that BJP government in the Centre is behind pushing Hindi in the South Indian states, the BJP leaders in the state cannot go against the high command. When the entire state and leaders of the party were shouting out loud against the Hindi imposition with the Hindi Beda campaign, BJP leaders, especially Yeddyurappa kept mum. This led to an anti-wave against him, giving other parties a chance to troll BSY and team.

4) Comments on Lingayat separate religion

Yeddyurappa is considered as the strong Linbgayat leader in the state. But the new campaign where  Lingayats in the state are asking for a separate status of religion has put Yeddyurappa in a spot. If he speaks for separate religion, then Lingayats will not come under Hinduism. But BJP has been raking up issues on the grounds of Hinduism, Ram Mandir and Hindu values. Allowing Lingayats to go out of Hinduism also might mean losing their vote bank too. Now, Yeddyurappa's silence on Lingayats demand for a separate religion has hurt the Lingayats in Karnataka.

5) Sympathy on DK Shivakumar

When Congress Minister DK Shivakumar was raided, Yeddyurappa had said that "He is a strong man and he will answer all the questions posed to him." This sympathetic statement had angered BJP leaders in the state. He was even warned by Party's national president Amit Shah on being soft towards DK Shivakumar.

Currently, he is trying his best to be good people and is playing the Dalit card by having food at their houses and invited them to his house for lunch. Will his efforts pay off or will he be asked to sacrifice his 'to be' seat? ...only time can answer this question.
