A Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) conductor who was suspended from work attempted suicide in bus depot alleging harassment by superiors, on Wednesday. He wrote a death note and consumed poison at BMTC Unit 13, Volvo bus premises, reports Kannada Prabha.

Conductor Ramakrishna wrote a death note alleging divisional traffic officer Ramachandrappa and divisional controller Basavarajappa responsible for his death and consumed poison. He was rushed to a private hospital by his colleagues and is in the Intensive Care Unit. The doctors have said 24 hours have to pass before his condition gets stable and the treatment is continuing, said Anand, joint secretary of BMTC Employees’ Union.
Unit 13 conductor Ramakrishna was on duty at the Kempegowda International Airport route. On July 7 BMTC officials got into the bus for checking. Everything was in order yet the officials registered a case against Ramakrishna. He immediately brought it to the notice of the higher officials and continued his work. However, on July 18 he was suspended from work. On Wednesday, he went to Unit 13 around 6 am and appealed to all the senior officials that injustice has been done to him. He also spoke to his colleagues. There was an argument between staffers and the officials. Ramakrishna then decided to protest at the premises. Basavarajappa and Ramachandrappa called the security guards and got Ramakrishna thrown out of the premises. Then Ramakrishna wrote a death note and consumed poison, reports Kannada Prabha quoting Anand, a BMTC employee.
Other employees confirmed the high-handed behaviour of divisional controller Basavarajappa, stating he is always rubbing the employees the wrong way and getting into disputes. They also alleged that he harasses the employees. A few days ago, he had suspended five conductors from employment, employees alleged.
