The potholes on the City roads that have appeared following heavy rains must be filled up within 48 hours failing which stringent action will be taken against officials concerned, warned BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad, reports Kannada Prabha.

The Commissioner inspected MG Road, Brigade Road, Mayo Hall Road, Trinity Road, HAL Road, Commissariat Road and Domlur flyover for potholes. He expressed extreme dissatisfaction at the work of ward engineers and pulled up the officials for their lackadaisical attitude. Special grants and facilities are being sanctioned for filling up potholes. Hence all potholes must be filled up within next 48 hours, falling which officials concerned will have to face stringent action, he warned.

During his all-night tour, the commissioner found that several roads were waterlogged and most of the roads were dotted with potholes. Waterlogging creates potholes and hence care must be taken to avoid water stagnant on the roads, the BBMP Commissioner observed. He expressed his dissatisfaction at the work and complained that the officials had neglected their duties.

The BBMP commissioner also issued an order to file criminal cases against all those mobile and internet companies who have dug up the road to lay the cables and failed to repair the road leading to potholes.
