Bahubali Jangli Pahilvan Sulthan arrive in City for Bakrid

A hairy black and white ‘Baahubali’, an angry grunting ‘Jangli Pailwan’, a sturdy dignified ‘Bengaluru Sultan’ and their various friends arrived in the City to roaring welcome.   They are special breed sheep brought to the market for Bakrid.

The Chamarajapete Edgah Maidan is filled with sheep that have arrived from all over the State.  Brisk trading of sheeps and goats was seen at Gurappana Playa, Bismillah Nagar, Gori Palya, and other markets. Over thousand sheep were sold in last two days, reported Kannada Prabha.

Sheep in highest demand are Jamunapuri breed, Ameengad breed, Raybhag, Kashmiri and Bannur sheep.  The Ameengadu breed costs between Rs 50,000 to Rs 3 lakhs.  Ram costs Rs 1 lakh. Bannur sheep costs between Rs 7000 and Rs 30,000.  The sheep weigh from 5 kg to 130-150 kgs.

It is well known that Shah Rukh Khan and his relatives prefer sheep from Bengaluru for Eid.  Every year sheep are sent from Bengaluru. Brothers M D Ibrahim and Mudassar from Tipu Nagara, who are popular traders for the past 20 years said Dakhani sheep are brought from Bagalakote and sold in the City and they are in high demand.

The Ameengad sheep are specially reared, each weighing 95 kgs and are being sent to Mumbai for Shah Rukh Khan and his relatives on Sunday.  Of the 180 sheep brought to the City 80 are already sold.  They have sheep starting at Rs 5500 to Rs 1 lakh. The incessant rain and GST have become big hurdles for sheep trade, the brothers said.

The other breeds that have arrived in the City are from Haveri, Chitradurga, Jamakhandi, Mudhol, Bijapura, Magadi, Nelamangala, Mandya, Ramanagara, Maluru, Channapatna, Anekal, Chintamani, Srinivasapura and Mulabagal.  Sheep, black sheep, ram, Milari and other breeds have arrived from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.  The most popular in demand are sheep from Gandasi in Hasana and Kirugaval in Mandya.

It can be recalled that the Mumbai High Court declined to issue any order on regulating cattle vigilantes and maintaining law and order ahead of Bakrid.
