Heavy rain and storms expected in September

After the relentless rain in August, heavy rain and storms are expected in September. The average minimum temperature for the month is likely to be normal to above normal in most parts of the country. However, some parts of Northwest India and South Peninsular India are likely to experience below-normal minimum temperatures, according to the IMD forecast.

The Meteorological Department's forecast also clearly states that rainfall will be above normal in September. On Sunday, the IMD reported unusual rainfall in several states. August 2025 witnessed record rainfall in the country, unseen in decades, according to the Meteorological Department. The intensity of the monsoon increased in the second half of the month, and above-normal rainfall is expected in September as well.

The IMD has predicted more rainfall for September. "Monthly average rainfall is likely to be above normal across the country in September 2025," the Meteorological Department stated. The average maximum temperature was 31.08°C, the 22nd highest since 1901, and the average minimum temperature was 23.96°C, the seventh highest since 1901. The average temperature of 27.52°C was also recorded as the 15th highest since 1901.
