Girlfriend's brother behind Stuart MacGill's kidnapping: Reports
Stuart MacGill is a former Australian spinner who has represented Australia in Tests and One-Day Internationals. He was kidnapped by four unknown men in Sydney a couple of days back before being released, while reports suggest someone from the family could have been involved.
Former Australian spinner Stuart MacGill became a hot topic in Australia this week after it was revealed that he was kidnapped in Sydney. Although he was released by the kidnappers a few hours later, four men suspected to be in connection to the same were arrested by the New South Wales police.
Meanwhile, according to the latest reports, the brother of MacGill's girlfriend Maria O'Meagher is allegedly a part of the entire kidnapping. The latter's brother Marino Sotiropoulos is among the four men to be arrested by NSW police on Wednesday.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, while O'Meagher initially said that her relationship with MacGill was over, she immediately backtracked. "Stuart and I are still together. We are all still frightened...I no longer feel safe (and) I really do not understand what happened. My brother and I led very different lives and although we were brothers and sisters, we weren't that close," she recorded.

"Everyone's fine and everyone's well, but I'm not interested in talking about what happened. Stuart is safe and we are both OK. Unfortunately, I am caught in the middle of a horrible situation, but all I can do is support Stu and my family. My elderly parents and children are really suffering and I am fearful for them. They are really in the dark about what happened," she added.
According to NSW police, MacGill was kidnapped on April 14 at gunpoint before being taken to an isolated property outside Sydney's city limits, in Belmore, where he was assaulted before being released. "The men (arrested) were taken to local police stations where charges are expected to be laid. Officers are currently in the process of executing search warrants at homes at Sutherland, Caringbah, Brighton Le-Sands, Banksia and Marrickville," said NSW Police in a statement, reports Fox Cricket.
MacGill represented Australia in Tests and One-Day Internationals. He attained notable success in the longest format, claiming 208 wickets in 44 matches.
