CDC suggests fully vaccinated people to get tested after potential COVID exposure
The organisation said that if someone has recovered from the infection, it is possible, though rare, one could get affected with COVID again.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said that fully vaccinated people should get tested three to five days if exposed to COVID-19 infection. This development comes as the experts are unaware about how long one would be protected after recovering from the virus infection.
The organisation said that if someone has recovered from the infection, it is possible, though rare, one could get affected with COVID again. Earlier, the CDC also urged the citizens to wear masks again in the United States. Reversing its guidance, the change of the rule comes after the cases increasing due to the Delta variant. Though studies show vaccination provides a substantial boost in protection, however, vaccinated people infected with Delta could infect others.
In May, the CDC said that vaccinated people face minimal risk of illness, even if exposed to someone who was infected.
The agency said if treated for COVID with antibodies or plasma, one should wait for 90 days before getting a vaccine. They said that US citizens returning from abroad still have to present a negative Covid-19 test before boarding flights, regardless of their vaccination status and should isolate for 10 days as a precautionary measure.
