Truecaller teams up with Google Duo to support video calling feature

Google Duo teams up with the Truecaller app on Android and iOS. This means users can make a Duo video call within the Truecaller app. It switches between Wi-Fi and cellular data for smoother calls.

"The new feature will now make high-quality video calling available to our 250 million users globally. This update enables users to launch a Duo video call with a single tap within the Truecaller app and can switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data for uninterrupted conversation on-the-go," Truecaller wrote in a blogpost.

It won't be forced upon users, and is available on Android and iOS as a permission-based service. So, users can opt-in or out anytime. Following the launch of Flash Messaging in April, the Google Duo-Truecaller integration will allow video-first users with the communication mode of their choice.

Truecaller was launched in 2009 with features such as Caller ID, reverse number lookup, and spam blocking and reporting. "We want to make communication simple, safe and efficient, and hence provide our evolving users every possible means of communication in one place," Truecaller wrote in a blogpost.

The Truecaller app is available for download for free on Android and iOS
