Snapchat crossed 100 million monthly users in India, announces several partnerships

Snapchat, the camera-based social networking app popular among youthful smartphone users, now has 100 million users in India, according to the company's co-founder Evan Spiegel, who revealed the milestone at an event on Wednesday. During its Snap For India 2021 event, Snapchat also announced various agreements with Indian enterprises to help build the social media camera app focused on augmented reality. Snapchat also claims to have boosted its new sponsors by 70% in 2020 and launched new monetisation streams for Snapchat users generating content.
Snap also announced that it is collaborating with Flipkart to develop AR experiences for e-commerce. In addition, the business is integrating its Camera Kit, an end-to-end solution for third-party developers, within Flipkart's camera storefront to allow online consumers to shop for new items. Snap also announced a partnership with Zomato to provide users with restaurant information and the ability to place food orders right from their Snapchat app's Map. In addition, Snapchat is now giving virtual try-on for Snapchat.
Sagar Cosmetics, located in Mumbai, and beauty brand MyGlamm have joined its AR shopping beta programme. In addition, the firm revealed that it is collaborating with other Android device makers to grow Snapchat. Samsung is the first smartphone manufacturer to integrate Snapchat's augmented reality experiences into its native camera app.

Earlier, the instant messaging software Telegram has surpassed 1 billion downloads worldwide. Telegram was founded in late 2013, and it took about eight years to reach the milestone on Friday, August 27. As per Sensor Tower study, India is the largest market for Telegram, accounting for 22 per cent of all downloads. This is comparable to Telegram's main competitor WhatsApp, which likewise has India as its largest market. According to reports, Telegram downloads increased in 2021. This might be due to the uproar over WhatsApp's new privacy policy and the company's handling of it.
