Red, is a brand to reckon with when it comes to film cameras. And, the company has now decided to enter the popular smartphone business. It has sent out a teaser of what's a modular smartphone priced at a hefty $1195, which amounts to roughly Rs 77,000.

The device dubbed Red Hydrogen comes with a 5.7-inch 'professional holographic display'. Apart from that, it is known that the device will come with a USB Type-c slot and microSD card slot. It will also have some modules like the Moto Z series.

It will integrate into professional Red Camera program and can be used as a user interface and monitor.  "The phone is clearly a niche device aimed at RED users, what with the ability to serve as a camera monitor and play back RED file formats, as well as handling ambiguous “VR, AR, and MR” content," points out TheNextWeb.

The company says it will run Android, but the version isn't mentioned. Among the missing details are also the battery life and cameras. The highlight is the holographic display that will allow seamless switching between traditional 2D content, holographic multi-view content, 3D content and interactive games. it will let you view VR/AR and MR.

The Aluminum unit is priced at $1195 (approx. Rs 77,000) and the Titanium at $1595 (approx Rs 1 lakh). However, the company says that the prices may differ as they do not include shipping charges and taxes.  Red Hydrogen phone will ship in Q1 2018.
