'Well deserved' - Fans hail Rey Mysterio after being announced as an inductee into WWE Hall of Fame 2023
WWE: Rey Mysterio continues to inspire his fans as an active wrestler, even at 48. Meanwhile, on Friday, he was announced as the maiden inductee into the 2023 Hall of Fame, as fans acclaimed his induction.
Legendary former world champion and the greater luchador, Rey Mysterio, has shown no signs of slowing down, even at the age of 48, as he continues to inspire a lot of young wrestlers even in the twilight phase of his professional wrestling career. Meanwhile, his legacy will be engraved, as on Friday, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced him as the first inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame for the class of 2023.
Consequently, Mysterio has become the first non-retired active WWE Superstar to be chosen as an inductee into the Hall of Fame. "Rey Mysterio will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, Class of 2023. The Master of the 619 has had an illustrious career, having notable encounters in not only WWE but also ECW, AAA, CMLL, NJPW, and WCW," announced WWE in a statement.

"In WWE, he won numerous accolades, including the 2006 Royal Rumble, the World Heavyweight Championship twice and the WWE Championship once. He is also a Triple Crown and Grand Slam Champion. Mysterio had an abundance of memorable moments and rivalries, including his battles with Eddie Guerrero, Batista, Kurt Angle, Cody Rhodes and Edge, to name a few. WWE congratulates Mysterio on becoming a WWE Hall of Famer!" concluded WWE's statement.
Following the announcement, fans took to social media to express their delight and satisfaction at the development, with many hailing Mysterio as their childhood hero, besides some stating that he is a well-deserved candidate for the honour. Also, others feel that he is the deserved headliner of the event, which will take place on March 31.

As for Mysterio's pro-wrestling career, he has won multiple championships across promotions, including the now-defunct World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and Lucha Underground. In WWE, he is a three-time World Champion, a three-time Cruiserweight Champion, a two-time Intercontinental Champion, a seven-time Tag-Team Champion and a two-time US Champion. He also won the Royal Rumble in 2006. While presently, he is involved in an on-screen feud with his son Dominik; it will be interesting to see how this feud transpires with Mysterio's HoF induction.
