Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has made the nation proud by winning the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. Consequently, he became the first Indian to win an individual Olympic gold in field and track events.

Meanwhile, Chopra revealed something interesting happened with him during the javelin throw finals involving Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem. He said that initially, before the finals, he could not find his javelin since Nadeem had walked away with it.

Speaking to Times of India, Chopra revealed that as he was looking for his javelin before the finals, he could not find it until he spotted Nadeem walking around with it. He then told him that it was his javelin and asked him to return it to him as he needed to throw using it. He further revealed that it was why he took his first shot quickly, to avoid the delay.

However, he also praised Naddem's performance at the event, both qualifiers and finals. He also congratulated Pakistan for showing interest in the sport, and it would do well on the international stage in the coming days.

Chopra was also asked how he felt about the appreciation and attention he has received post Tokyo success. He replied that it should not be the case that all the celebrations happen now and the athletes are ignored within the next month.

He asserted that sports like these need undying attention to thrive more, and things need to change. While he applauded that the hard work has paved the way for the medal, systematic progress is necessary at all times.
