Opposition YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh is going to file about one lakh cheating cases against Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu across the state on June 8, the day on which the state government is planning to observe its Maha Sankalpam (Great Pledge).

This was the day when Naidu took oath as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh in a public function organized at Guntur after winning the 2014 election.

A slew of cases will be filed in all 1121 police stations in the state’s 175 Assembly constituencies under IPC Section 418 which deals with the cheating and other related offences.

Opposition leader and YSR Congress party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy has given a call to the people and party leaders to file as many cases as possible against the chief minister on June 8, in protest against the Naidu's failure to fulfill the assurances he had given to the people of Andhra Pradesh during the run up to the general elections in 2014.

Even though Naidu made more than a hundred promises, he backed out on all important poll assurances such as jobs to each family or a ₹2000 unemployment allowance in case there is no job available.

Jagan said instead of decent governance, June 8 had heralded a phase of corruption, cheating and betrayal in the history of Andhra Pradesh. Naidu's government is observing its Maha Sankalpam at Ongole as the culmination of its on-going Nava Nirmana Diksha week that began from June 1.

To commemorate the day and the completion of two years in office, the state government is organizing a huge meeting in Ongole that day to administer a pledge to the people.  While celebrating the achievements of TDP's government, the people will rededicate themselves to the state with the pledge.

The Opposition meanwhile, is crying foul. “We want to observe the ‘Great Betrayal Day’ on June 8 by filing cases in all police stations against CM Naidu. Even though Naidu made more than a hundred promises, he backed out on all important poll assurances such as jobs to each family or a ₹2000 unemployment allowance in case there is no job available. Naidu also promised complete loan waiver to farmers, interest free loans to women’s self-help groups and weavers, etc. Citing all the instances, we want to file cases under IPC Sec 418 in all police stations,” Uravankonda MLA Visweswar Reddy, of the YSR Congress, said.

Thousands of party leaders and general public would file the cases and if the police refuse to register the cases, the party would explore legal course of action, the MLA said. According to Reddy about a lakh cases are expected to be filed against the chief minister.
