Sasikala says families of MLAs supporting her are being threatened O Pannerselvam says, MLAs and their families have got in touch with him saying they are being threatened Sasikala holds press meet, presents MLAs but doesn’t allow them to speak to media
AIADMK General Secretary Sasikala’s claims come as against acting Chief Minister Panneerselvam’s claim that Sasikala has deployed four goondas behind one MLA to keep them inside the Golden Bay Resort. With both busy in the blame game, one thing is almost sure that MLAs and their families might be under the pressure of threat. But the question is who is threatening them?
Sasikala, from the day of Jayalalithaa’s funeral, is coming in front of the media and people armed with her handkerchief and regularly wiping out her tears. The same thing was repeated at the Golden Bay Resort where she spoke to the MLAs.
It looks like Sasikala has no other strategy apart from trying to prove that she was close to Amma. Even at the Golden Bay, she shed tears and said that “I took a pledge that I will safeguard the party Amma has left behind, till my last breadth.”
But as against Sasikala’s claim, she is not allowing the MLAs to speak to the media. Still, they are kept in security-laden Godlen Bay Resort. So much so the media persons waiting to meet about 15 journalists were beaten up by the AIADMK members outside the resort.
But, reporters refused to back down and sat on the ground staging protest and demanding entry. At last, they were allowed to go inside and cover the press meet, where Sasikala spoke. The meeting went on for just 10 minutes, where Sasikala asked the journalists to count the MLAs seated in support of her.
Interestingly, as soon as her talk was over, there was some chaos and the journalists, of course, had to return without talking to the MLAs and they could not even count make a head count.
Now, even after the forced-press meet, the question remains, why such secrecy? There was secrecy maintained when Jayalalithaa was in the hospital. MLAs not allowed to go home or to meet their families. If their families are under threat, what Sasikala has to do is let them guard their families and not put them in a resort without TV and phones.
