Signs of dissent against Yeddyurappa growing in Karnataka BJP

Karnataka BJP dissent BS Yeddyurappa

Dissent against Karnataka BJP president BS Yeddyurappa seems to be on the boil, especially since the appointment of office bearers, with a section of party leaders opposing his unilateral style of functioning.

After Yeddyurappa made it clear that he will not go back on the appointments made to the post of BJP office bearers and presidents of district units, a section of disgruntled party leaders on Friday even met under the leadership of former Deputy Chief Minister KS Eshwarappa.

Speaking after the meeting, Eshwarappa who is also the leader of the opposition in the Legislative Council, said:

"Let Yeddyurappa tell that he has made appointments after discussing with state core committee, I will accept the decision."

"Ours is a party with an organised structure and the workers get a say in all decisions. Our intention is that, since there is a system, it has to be followed. We have discussed what has to be done for it," Eshwarappa added.

According sources with BJP, several party members are of the opinion that Yeddyurappa should once again go for re-appointment after discussing the issue in the core committee.

The BJP Karnataka members also have decided to have a meeting with other leaders such as leader of Opposition in the assembly Jagadish Shettar, Union Minister Ananth Kumar and others, who have stayed away from the controversy.

Earlier speaking at a newly appointed office bearers meeting in Shivamogga, Yeddyurappa said: "We have to work together to strengthen the party. We will have to work like brothers; those who have held offices earlier and those who are holding it now both will have to work together."

However, there is a growing sign of discontentment even against Yeddyurappa loyalist Shobha Karandlaje. Party leader CT Ravi recently said that no one has got the
opportunities that she has got in the short span of time.

Responding to a question about her alleged statement regarding an attempt to suppress her through false allegations, he said "I don't know why she is feeling that way. She has been made MP from Chikkamagaluru-Udupi where party has a strong base. We have all worked for her victory, treating her like a sister."
